Industrial Ventilation Hardware — Engineering Answers to Bolts That Vibrate Loose

Fan base bolts loosen within 3–6 months under continuous vibration — and the fix is not "tighten harder". Preload is consumed by fretting wear under vibration; no initial torque survives that. ISO 14694 defines vibration limits for industrial fans, and base connections must be specified as an anti-loosening system: 8.8-grade bolts with lock nuts and spring washers are the baseline; vibration-sensitive installations add isolators to cut the source. We supply a complete package: SMACNA/GB 50243 duct flange hardware, fan anti-loosening fastener systems, rubber/spring vibration isolators and fire-damper mounting hardware.

SOLUTION COMPARISON

Duct Flange Options Compared

Leakage rate and installation cost are set largely by the flange system.

OptionBest forLeakage controlInstallation speedCostRecommendation
TDF/TDC integral flange ⭐ Recommended Rectangular ducts, low/medium-pressure HVACMedium-high: flange formed from the duct itself, sealed with gasketsLow Fast: machine-formed, slide-on site assemblyMainstream for commercial and industrial ventilation
Angle-iron flange TOP PICKHigh-pressure systems, smoke-exhaust ducts, round ductsHigh: rigid, bolted, reliableMedium Slow: cutting, welding, drillingMandatory for high pressure and smoke exhaust
Slip joint / drive cleat Low-pressure small ducts, simple worksMedium-low: depends on cleat engagementLowest FastestLow-pressure small sizes only — never medium/high pressure

Smoke-exhaust ducting per GB 51251: flanges, gaskets and supports must meet fire-resistance and high-temperature requirements — combustible sealants are prohibited.

SELECTION DECISION

3-Step Selection Flow

1. Fix system pressure & duty — low/medium/high; general ventilation or smoke control 2. Pick the flange system — integral vs angle-iron per pressure and code 3. Match isolation & locking — isolators and locking hardware per fan vibration class
