FAQ
How close is the estimate to actual weight?
For standard parts the deviation is typically within ±5%, driven by tolerances, head geometry and coating. Sufficient for freight and quotation estimates; use measured values for trade settlement.
How much does an M20×100 hex bolt weigh?
On the carbon-steel basis (GB/T 5782, partially threaded) an M20×100 hex bolt runs about 300 g per piece, i.e. roughly 30 kg per 100 pcs. See the weight chart below for the full M20 length series, or switch diameter (M6–M36) and length above for any other size.
How much weight does coating add?
Hot-dip galvanizing typically adds 3–6% depending on coating thickness; electro zinc adds under 1%. This tool computes base-material weight.
Which density should I use for special alloys?
A2/A4 (304/316) fasteners are close to 7.9 g/cm³; duplex 2205 is about 7.8 g/cm³. For exotic alloys, choose "Custom density" and enter the actual value.

What basis is used for stud-bolt weight?
Flange-assembly convention: stud bolt + 2 hex nuts of the same size (ASME B16.5 joint basis — same as piping-world/projectmaterials per-100 tables with two nuts). Heavy hex nuts (e.g. A194 2H) run 10–15% heavier than regular nuts; for a heavy-hex basis please quote against the actual catalog nut spec or contact us.
How does carriage-bolt weight compare with hex?
At the same size and length the comparison depends on the rod-diameter basis: GB/T 12 specifies the unthreaded shank at approximately the major diameter, so on the catalog basis a carriage bolt runs a bit heavier than a hex bolt (e.g. M12×50: carriage ≈ 68 g vs hex ≈ 54 g); on a pitch-diameter basis they are close or slightly lighter. Always settle against the actual catalog SKU weight.
