Your flange is DN80 PN16 — which gasket goes on it? 4.5 mm winding and 3.0 mm rings are the standard supplied thicknesses; the outer ring OD column gives the PN10 / PN16 values side by side — identical across DN15–DN200 in our range, split only at DN300. 304 + graphite is the standard combination; 316L and PTFE fillers are quoted per order. PN vs Class: nominal comparison and a no-interchange warning

PN (GB/T 1048) is the metric nominal-pressure designation, expressed in bar; Class (ASME B16.5) is the US pound-class designation and is dimensionless. The two columns below are a plain unit conversion of each designation's own basis value, plus the pairings seen in practice — this is not a conversion table and must not be used to interchange parts.

Why they cannot be interchanged (four grounds)

  1. They are not the same quantity: PN is a bar-based nominal-pressure designation, Class is a dimensionless pound-class designation, and there is no exact conversion formula between them; the two columns above are only unit conversions of each designation's own basis value.
  2. The size systems stand side by side rather than being one system: the Chinese national standards themselves split gaskets by system — non-metallic flat gaskets GB/T 9126.1-2023 (PN series) / GB/T 9126.2-2023 (Class series), spiral wound gaskets GB/T 4622.1-2022 (PN series) / GB/T 4622.2-2022 (Class series) — each with its own dimension table. At the same nominal level the flange OD, bolt circle, bolt hole diameter and facing can all differ, and the bolt holes frequently do not line up.
  3. Our own case: the spiral wound gaskets in our range are dimensioned to EN 1514-2 / GB/T 4622.1 (PN series), and the ASME B16.20 entry recorded against them in our library is a weight-calibration reference. So an order written as "Class 150 / ASME B16.20" against a flange that is actually PN series (or the reverse) can pick up the wrong dimensions — confirm against the system marked on the flange before ordering.
  4. A designation is not an allowable value: PN and Class are both designations, and the allowable pressure falls with material and temperature — do not read the designation number as a working pressure.

Match the system marked on the flange: PN to the PN series, Class to the Class series. Mixing the two needs an adapter or a matching flange, never a "comparison table". Send us the flange marking (system + DN + pressure grade) and the drawing and we will verify the dimensions by system and quote.

Non-metallic flat gaskets = ring area × thickness × material density (the library records weight_src=calc, so the formula is the stored value); spiral wound gaskets use the component method (winding at 3.3 g/cm³, inner ring at 7.93 g/cm³, outer ring at 7.85 g/cm³). The material densities 1.6 / 1.2 / 2.2 g/cm³ are the per-material values recorded in the library.

Cells hold the bulk weight (kg/1000 pcs); the grams per piece and the kg/1000 pcs figure are the same number. PN10 and PN16 differ only at DN300 (non-asbestos fibre 30.3 → 30.3 kg/1000 pcs). Theoretical estimates, for quoting and freight budgeting; settlement follows actual measurement.

Every dimension on this page is the specification value of a gasket SKU in our product catalogue (the same source as the non-metallic flat gasket and spiral wound gasket pages in the pipe flanges and gaskets category): non-metallic flat gaskets to GB/T 9126.1 (PN series, IBC type, the PN-series dimensions equivalent to EN 1514-1), spiral wound gaskets to GB/T 4622.1 (PN series, dimensions from the published EN 1514-2 d1–d4 values). The per-row dimension and density URLs are archived in the catalogue spec_json; unit weights are the same parameter and the same value as the catalogue (ring area × thickness × density for flat gaskets; the component method for spiral wound).

Boundary: this page reverse-looks-up our actual catalogue range — it is not a standard's front dimension table. It covers only the ten DN15–DN300 sizes in our range at PN10/PN16 and gives no extrapolated values outside that range, nor any Class-series table values. Unit weights are theoretical estimates (excluding packing and plating) and serve as a reference for quoting and freight; selection and acceptance follow the system marked on the flange and the drawing.

Frequently asked questions

My flange is DN80 PN16 — which gasket do I need?

Either of the two lines in our range fits: non-metallic flat (GB/T 9126.1, PN16 grade) inner 90 × outer 142 × 2 mm thick, about 30.3 g each (non-asbestos fibre); or spiral wound (GB/T 4622.1) basic type, winding inner 95 × outer 115 × 4.5 mm thick, about 49 g each and about 208 g each with inner and outer rings. Low-pressure, ambient-temperature service can use the flat gasket; higher temperature or pressure, or where a metal ring must confine the winding, points to spiral wound.

Are PN10 and PN16 gaskets the same size?

Across the ten sizes in our range, PN10 and PN16 gaskets are identical grade by grade from DN15 to DN200, and split only at DN300: flat gasket OD 142 → 142 mm, spiral wound outer ring OD 142 → 142 mm. So for most bores a change of pressure grade does not change the gasket size; what changes much more with PN is the flange side — thickness and bolt circle.

Can a PN16 gasket go on a Class 150 flange?

Not directly. PN and Class are parallel size systems — the Chinese national standards themselves split gaskets by system (GB/T 9126.1 / 9126.2 and GB/T 4622.1 / 4622.2), each with its own dimension table; at the same nominal level the flange OD, bolt circle and bolt hole diameter can all differ, the bolt holes frequently do not line up and the gaskets are not interchangeable. Do you have gaskets for DN65 or DN125?

Those are outside the ten sizes in our range (DN15 / 20 / 25 / 40 / 50 / 80 / 100 / 150 / 200 / 300), including DN10 / DN32 / DN65 / DN125 / DN250 / DN350 / DN400 / DN500; this page gives no extrapolated values for them. How do I choose between non-asbestos fibre, NBR and PTFE?

The three materials share one geometry and differ only in density: non-asbestos fibre 1.6 g/cm³, NBR 1.2 g/cm³ and PTFE 2.2 g/cm³, so unit weights differ noticeably at the same size (at DN80 PN16: about 30.3 / 22.7 / 41.7 g). Suitability for a given medium and temperature depends on the actual service conditions, and this page discloses only the weight and geometry basis; send us the medium, temperature and pressure and we will confirm the material recommendation and quote per order.
